LET US STOP BULLYING

Emzee Football Club’s Zero-Tolerance Stand and How You Can Help

Stop bullying

At Emzee Football Club, every child should feel safe, respected, and welcomed. Bullying—on or off the pitch—destroys confidence, hurts performance, and takes the joy out of the game. We operate a zero-tolerance policy: bullying behaviours are not accepted and will be acted on quickly and fairly.

What is bullying?

Bullying is repeated, intentional behaviour that hurts, humiliates, excludes, or intimidates another person. It can happen face to face, in groups, or online.

Types of bullying (with football examples)

  • Physical: Hitting, tripping, elbowing, hiding/stealing boots or kit.

  • Verbal: Name-calling, insults, threats, mocking mistakes in training.

  • Social/Relational: Deliberately excluding someone from drills or games, spreading rumours, pressuring others not to pass to a teammate.

  • Cyberbullying: Hurtful messages, posting embarrassing photos/videos, group-chat pile-ons after matches.

  • Discriminatory/Hate-based: Targeting race, nationality, religion, disability, gender, body type, or language.

  • Sexual/Harassment: Inappropriate comments, gestures, or unwanted contact.

  • Power/Hazing: “Initiations,” punishment runs, or chores forced on younger players.

Our zero-tolerance policy

  • See it → Stop it → Report it. Coaches and staff intervene immediately to protect players.

  • Confidential reporting for players and parents. We take every report seriously.

  • Fair process: We listen to all sides, keep records, and communicate next steps.

  • Consequences may include education, warnings, suspension, or removal from sessions/teams.

  • No retaliation: Anyone who reports in good faith is protected.

For kids (if you’re being bullied)

  1. Stay safe first. Step away from danger and stay with friends or a coach.

  2. Say it clearly: “Stop. That’s not okay.” (If it’s safe.)

  3. Save evidence: Keep messages/screenshots; don’t retaliate online.

  4. Tell an adult you trust at training and at home—today.

  5. Keep playing. You have the right to learn, enjoy, and belong here.

For parents/guardians

  • Listen and reassure. Thank your child for telling you; avoid blaming.

  • Record details (dates, messages, names).

  • Notify us early via coach/manager/email—don’t wait.

  • Partner with us on a plan: supervision changes, buddy systems, seating/line-up adjustments, monitored chats.

  • Model calm. We’ll handle football-side discipline; avoid direct confrontations with other families.

For people in charge (coaches, team managers, volunteers)

  • Intervene immediately—separate, support the targeted player, and stop the behaviour.

  • Name the behaviour: “That’s exclusion/name-calling—unacceptable here.”

  • Log and escalate to the Club Lead the same day; inform parents as appropriate.

  • Design training for inclusion: mixed-ability groups, rotating partners, clear roles, and positive feedback.

  • Set norms: Start each block with our Code of Conduct; end with shout-outs for respect, effort, and teamwork.

Signs to watch for

  • Sudden reluctance to attend training/matches

  • “Lost” items, unexplained knocks, headaches or stomach aches

  • Big drop in confidence or mood, changes in sleep or appetite

  • Avoiding certain teammates or drillsIf you notice these, speak to us.

Be an upstander: the 4 Ds

  • Direct: “Hey, not cool—cut it out.”

  • Distract: Change the drill, call water break, shift attention.

  • Delegate: Get a coach or captain right away.

  • Document: Note what happened (and save messages).

Our Code of Conduct (every season)

  • Respect teammates, opponents, officials, and self.

  • No insults, slurs, or exclusion.

  • Play fair, help others improve, celebrate effort.

  • Use team chats responsibly—no shaming or spam. All players and parents agree to this at registration; breaches trigger our disciplinary process.

Call to action

  • Parents: Talk to your child tonight about kindness, team values, and speaking up. Save our contacts and report concerns early.

  • Players: Be brave. If you see bullying, be an upstander—and tell a coach. You belong here.

  • People in charge: Keep standards high, language clean, and drills inclusive. Intervene fast, log every incident, follow through.

Together, let’s keep Emzee FC a safe, joyful place to learn and grow.📩 Report/Contact: general@emzeefootballclub.com | Club Line: +60 17-847 3806
