Emzee Football Club U16 began their Liga Suparimau Season A campaign with an entertaining and competitive fixture against Zero9 Academy, a match that showcased quality football, resilience, and valuable lessons for both sides.
From the opening whistle, Emzee FC asserted themselves well, controlling possession and dictating the tempo of the game. The first half saw Emzee create numerous goal-scoring opportunities, but despite their dominance, the chances went unconverted and the teams headed into halftime locked at 0–0.
The second half began with a moment of misfortune for Emzee FC, as a costly error led to Zero9 Academy taking the lead. However, the response from Emzee was immediate and impressive. Striker Haikal found the back of the net soon after, restoring parity and lifting the team’s momentum.
As the match progressed, Emzee FC continued to push forward, playing neat and attacking football. Unfortunately, football can be cruel. Despite long spells of dominance, two late goals from Zero9 Academy proved decisive, handing them a 3–1 victory and the top position in the league table.
Both teams delivered a strong performance, demonstrating discipline, technical quality, and competitive spirit throughout the match.
Speaking after the game, the Emzee FC Head Coach Michael Ihonre shared his thoughts:
“Our team played very good football, but dominating the game without utilizing our chances was what cost us. We will go back to the drawing board and work on our finishing. I would also like to congratulate Zero9 Academy for their resilience and victory.”
While the result did not go our way, the performance highlighted the team’s potential and set a solid foundation for the matches ahead. This opening fixture marks an important step in the players’ development journey, and the lessons learned will only make the team stronger.
Kudos to both teams for an exciting match — and for Emzee FC U16, this is just the beginning. We learn. We grow. We go again.
