David Luiz's Arsenal future set to be decided

David Luiz’s agent Kia Joorabchian has revealed a decision on his future will be made by the end of this week.

Luiz’s contract at Arsenal runs out at the end of the season and football.london understands the option to extend his one-year stay with the club has expired.

Joorabchian has revealed that the Brazilian defender will know if he will remain at the Gunners next season by the end of this week.

“The situation from Arsenal’s point of view will be resolved this week. Not just David Luiz’s situation. There are several issues within the whole structure that will be resolved,” Luiz’s agent said on talkSPORT.

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has broken his silence after being left out of Mikel Arteta’s squad in Wednesday night’s defeat to Manchester City.

Ozil was not in the 20-man squad for the Gunners’ first game back at the Etihad Stadium, where they were beaten 3-0.

The former Germany international has taken to Twitter to break his silence, with Arteta calling the decision a “tactical” one.

Ozil tweeted: “No matter what … #M1Ö @Arsenal” with a picture of him holding the Arsenal badge.

Arsenal are among the clubs to receive a boost as UEFA have confirmed they will be relaxing its FFP rules following the coronavirus pandemic.

With every club facing financial difficulties in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, UEFA will now be more lenient when clubs are balancing their books.

Clubs were initially required to make as little of a loss as possible this year, with UEFA to assess each club’s situation, but that has now been delayed until next year in these unprecedented times.

The European football governing body has also confirmed the monitoring process for the 2020/21 season has been curtailed and clubs will only have to send their report for the years of 2018 and 2019.
