Real Madrid and Barcelona 'enter the race with Bayern Munich for Manchester City forward Leroy Sane'

Real Madrid and Barcelona have reportedly joined Bayern Munich in the race for Manchester City forward Leroy Sane.

German champions Bayern came close to signing Sane back in the summer but a serious knee ligament injury in City's Community Shield victory over Liverpool in August scuppered the move.

The 24-year-old has remained a top target for Bayern and reports coming out of Germany have claimed that the club's sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has already held secret meetings with the player's agent ahead of the potential summer switch.

However, Diario Sport have cited a report from Sport Bild that Bayern are in a three-way battle for Sane's signature with Spanish giants Madrid and Barcelona.

Sane's deal expires at City next summer and the report has suggested that Zinedine Zidane has requested Madrid president Florentino Perez monitor the situation.

The winger was understood to be open to a move last summer and City may feel pressure to cash in on him before clubs have the chance to sign him on a free next year.

It is estimated that the German could be valued north of £92million.

Although Madrid and Barcelona could pose a problem to Bayern, the German side are still thought to be the frontrunners.

Sane has not featured for the senior team since their Community Shield victory but is close to a return, having rejoined training and played minutes for the Under 23s.

The winger scored 16 times and made 18 assists in all competitions last season as City won the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup.
