Man Utd 'offered Chelsea star Willian' as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer makes summer decision.

Manchester United have been offered the opportunity to sign winger Willian on a free transfer with his Chelsea career coming to an end.

The Brazilian attacker would give the Red Devils plenty of top-level experience from his time at Stamford Bridge.

Willian, 31, is out of contract at the end of June, having not yet extended his Chelsea deal until the end of the season.

Manager Frank Lampard wants him around until the 2019/20 campaign is over but is ready to let his former team-mate go as the Blues plan for an exciting new future.

Hakim Yiyech is already on his way to Chelsea this summer from Ajax, while Daily Star Sport understands they are also chasing £90m-valued Kai Havertz of Bayer Leverkusen, with the Blues leading the race for his signature.

As a result, Willian and Pedro are poised to leave the west Londoners on free transfers.

And the Daily Mail say rivals United have the chance to snap Willian up for nothing as they too look to strengthen their options in attack ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made Borussia Dortmund’s £100m-rated Jadon Sancho, 20, his No.1 target for the summer, and Willian would provide another option in the same role.

Aston Villa’s £70m playmaker Jack Grealish, 24, is also high on his wishlist, with both players fitting the mould of what United are after in the current market.

The Red Devils have focused their attention on hungry, young, homegrown players under Solskjaer’s leadership as they aim to close the gap in the Premier League to rivals Liverpool and Manchester City in the coming seasons.

It means Willian looks likely to miss out on the prospect of a move to Old Trafford with his future lying elsewhere.

Solskjaer is keen to recruit players of a different mould, so Willian won’t be prioritised ahead of United’s other targets despite being available for a bargain.

Willian has enjoyed a solid career at Stamford Bridge, having joined Chelsea ahead of Tottenham way back in 2013.

He has since made 330 appearances for the Blues across all competitions, scoring 59 goals in that time.

Prior to Chelsea’s 2-1 Premier League win over Aston Villa on Sunday, which Willian featured in, Lampard spoke of the player’s current contract situation.

Chelsea have until today to agree a short-term extension for this season and he revealed: “I would have sympathy with the player to make the decision they need.

“If we try to extend the players then we want them to stay, we have conversations going on. We want to finish the season with the players we started with.”
