Eden Hazard to undergo surgery on ankle injury this week in Dallas

Real Madrid star Eden Hazrd is set for surgery on his ankle in the United States on Thursday.

The Belgian winger suffered a fracture to his ankle during Real's shock defeat by Levante last month and missed the Champions League clash with Manchesty City's as a result.

Real are hoping that Hazard will be able to return to action for them before the end of the season, but according to the Sun he could be out for the campaign.

It has been an injury-hit first campaign for the 29-year-old at the Santiago Bernabeu — he missed three months of the season with another ankle issue.

His absence saw them lose 2-1 to City at home last week.

Hazard arrived at Real from Chelsea in the summer for a fee that could rise to £150million but has scored just once in 15 appearances.

He will be hoping to be fully fit again before the European Championship in the summer, when he will captain Belgium.
