Chelsea offered cut-price Kai Havertz alternative but only have one week to seal transfer.

Barcelona have offered Chelsea the opportunity to sign Philippe Coutinho as an alternative to Kai Havertz but they want a decision by the end of the club's financial year on June 30, according to reports in Spain.

Chelsea have funds to spend this summer because they have not reinvested the money received for Eden Hazard and Alvaro Morata.

Frank Lampard has acted decisively in the market so far, capturing Ajax ace Hakim Ziyech and RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

The Blues are keeping close tabs on highly-rated Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Havertz, who is valued at around £90million.

But a host of top European clubs, including Real Madrid and Manchester United, are also interested in the 21-year-old.

Spanish publication Sport claim Lampard would consider a move for Coutinho and Barcelona have slashed their asking price.

The Catalan giants are apparently in a race to meet this year's Financial Fair Play regulations and must balance the books before June 30.

That leaves just seven days to get some of their stars out of the door so they are hoping to sell Coutinho for £63m instead of their initial £81m valuation.

Tottenham and Newcastle, pending their takeover goes through, are also reported to be interested.

Carlo Ancelotti's Everton are said to have made an approach but are not willing to stump up that amount of cash up front.
