Barcelona 'target a centre back, right back, wide forward and a striker this summer

There will be an overhaul at Barcelona this summer with the club looking to maximise the final few of Lionel Messi's extraordinary career.

According to Sport, the Catalan club will target two defenders and two forwards in the upcoming window in order to build a new team around their iconic talisman.

Barca's desire to do so is borne out of their 2-0 defeat at eternal rivals Real Madrid on Sunday night, where it was established that Messi was too isolated.

Sport claim that Nou Camp outfit want to sign a centre back and a right back in defence. At present manager Quique Setien only has three centre-back options in Gerard Pique, Clement Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti.

Meanwhile, at right back the void left by Dani Alves' departure in 2016 is still yet to be filled.

In attack, Barca are looking at two types of player. One who can play out wide with the other being a bona-fide No 9 who can rotate with Luis Suarez.

Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez is one player who has been linked with a move to catalona.

Barca's remit is that these players must be of starting quality rather than squad roles as they look to regain their supremacy on all three fronts.

Sport adds that they would also be open to signing a midfielder too, depending on the market.
